Stephen Norris ASG Outstanding Professor
Miami University's Associated Student Government has given its Outstanding Professor Award to Stephen Norris, assistant professor of history.
An ASG committee received the names of 65 nominees; Jens Sutmöller, ASG secretary for academic affairs, announced the winner at an on-campus banquet this spring.
In her letter of nomination, senior history major Katherine Bibish discussed ways Norris creates a positive classroom experience: “He encourages students to speak by giving positive feedback, and he sets the tone of the class to be a respectful environment where students feel they can express themselves but also engage others in discussion in a professional and academic way.”
Norris joined the Miami faculty in 2002. His teaching interests include Russian cultural history and film history.
