What Can I Do With a Major in Computer Technology?
(Associate Degree)

Computer Technology is a field of study that involves the application of computing concepts to the solution of many different kinds of problems. Students receive a solid foundation in math, computing fundamentals, and computer programming, complemented by liberal education and support courses.

The Computer Technology major is offered on the regional campuses and is designed for students who wish to earn a technical associate degree and immediately begin working, or choose to continue their education towards a bachelor's degree. It allows students to obtain an Associated Degree in Applied Science by taking approximately half of the courses for the Computer Science or Systems Analysis major in the bachelor's degree program. After completing the associate degree, students who wish to continue on for a bachelor's degree may relocate to the Oxford campus and continue with junior standing in the Computer Science and Systems Analysis Department.

Students who wish to find employment after completing this associate degree are prepared for positions such as computer programmers, technical support specialists and system support personnel. Jobs and careers in the Computer Technology field will continue to be in-demand.
