Chemical education, web-based, K-12 curriculum

My principal area of scholarly activity involves chemistry curriculum development at the middle-school level as part of the nationally recognized Teaching Science with TOYS program. This program enhances teachers' science knowledge and encourages discovery-oriented, activity-based science instruction. Some hands-on chemistry activities have been published; many more are in various stages of development and continue to be used in teacher in-service workshops as well as in an undergraduate course for education majors.

A secondary area of scholarly activity involves the impact of technology in introductory college chemistry education. This includes the impact of instruction via two-way interactive video between different campuses and the effect of web-based assignments on a student's learning.
