Research During the Summer
Many students participate in research full time during the summer. They are supported by a number of mechanisms, including support from faculty research grants and the Miami USS and Hughes programs.

Undergraduate Summer Scholars Program
Open only to MU Students. This ten-week program provides college credit and a stipend.

Undergraduate majors in Chemistry or Biochemistry are invited to join one of more than twenty active research groups.  Undergraduates work side-by-side with and are trained by faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.  Between 75-100 undergraduates participate in research projects in the department every year.

More than 75 professional research publications have been coauthored by undergraduate researchers in the last 5 years! Many undergraduate researchers present their results at regional, national, and international research conferences.

Undergraduates can earn credit hours towards graduation by pursuing research during the academic year. Funds are available in the form salaries or scholarships for summer research.
