1. Spiders-“Students study spiders in Peru.” Written by Andrea Pronko. Story profiles trip of Miami students and teachers who traveled to the Amazon rain forest to study spiders. 4 pages with a large graphic on each page; pictures on the first three pages and the last page having a large quote box.

2. Physics-“Physics professor pursues role of computers in the classroom.” Written by Jeff Driever. Story profiles Miami professor Joseph Priest’s work; he is designing instructional physics programs for Apple computers. 2 pages with one picture of Priest on the first page and a quote box on the second page.
Nadler-“Hands-on experience brings confidence, knowledge, and new challenges.” Written by Jenny Schwind. Story profiles Dr. Marjorie Keeshan Nadler’s teaching strategies in the classroom, giving students real-world exposure through class work. 2 pages with one picture of Nadler on the first page and a quote box on the second page.

3. Pearson-“Once an educator…always an educator.” Written by Marjorie McCarthy. Story profiles how university president Paul Pearson still acts as a teacher while he shares his love for the environment with students. 2 pages with quote box on the first page and a picture of Pearson on the second page.

4. Preservation class-“Historic value more than sentimental.” Written by Christopher Wilson. Story profiles Dr. Sherry Corbett’s class at Miami on historic preservation. 2 pages with picture of Corbett on second page.
Up With People-“Promoting world peace through work and song.” Written by Paula Roberts.

5. Story profiles Miami senior Anne Harbison who is part of Up With People, an international singing group that sings to promote peace. 2 pages with one picture of Harbison on the first page and a quote box on the second page.

6. Calculus-“Professors push concepts in teaching of calculus.” Written by Taylor Hutt. Story profiles Miami professors Fred Gass and Thomas Farmer and how they are simplifying calculus for students to understand. 2 pages with one picture of Gass and Farmer on the first page and a quote box on the second page.

7. Honors Botany-“Botany lab intrigues all majors.” Written by Kym Klein. Story profiles Miami professor Dr. Susan Barnum’s methods of teaching students by allowing them to conduct advanced experiments that evoke positive responses towards science from students. 2 pages with small picture on first page of test tubes and large picture of students in lab on second page.

8. Vietnam class-“Debate over Vietnam continues.” Written by Kurt Kishler. Story profiles Miami teacher Art Casciato’s English class about the representation of the war through literature. 2 pages with small picture on first page of books and large picture of Casciato on second page.
Battling apathy-“He leads by following; students learn by leading.” Written by Sherry Cook. Story profiles how Miami professor Dr. Don Daiker is motivating students to learn in his classroom. 2 pages with photo of Daiker on second page.

9. CPPO-“Adviser helps in career search.” Written by Kristin Seno. Story profiles how the CPPO staff can help a first-year student pick a major and then a career. 2 pages with one picture of assistant director of CPPO on the first page and a quote box on the second page.

10. Big Brother program-“Friendship: The Real Reward.” Written by Michael Forge. Story profiles the winners of the year’s Big Brother/ Big Sister annual award. 1 page with picture of award winning “brothers.”
Peace Corps-“Peace Corps sends Miamian to Africa.” Written by Cherry Zboril. Story profiles Phil Rhodes. 1 page with picture of Rhodes.

11. College Drinking-“Psychology major studies college drinking habits.” Written by Jenny Schwind. Story profiles the relationship between stress in college and alcohol. 1 page with additional jump space.
Learning-“How you learn may be the key to what you learn.” Written by Brian R. Hannan. Story profiles a study in the psychology department about the correlation of children’s learning skills and their mother’s contributions to learning at home. 1 page with additional jump space.

12. Computing Geography-“Students get best of both worlds.” Written by Karen Cordis. Story profiles Miami professors William Renwick and Cyrus Young who have computerized mapping for students to utilize in the Shideler Hall laboratory. 1 page with picture of Renwick and Young.

13. Bacteria-“Microbiologist creates bacteria to fight bacteria. Written by Leanne Spar. Story profiles Miami microbiologist Anne Morris Hooke who is developing vaccines by altering the genes of certain bacteria. 2 pages with additional jump space and photo with jump text of Hooke.
