Beacon, NY - Miami University students taking HST 400.S (American Folk Music) had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when they traveled with Professor Allan Winkler to the home of Pete Seeger. In October (2009), the students spent the better part of a day chatting with Seeger and had the chance to sing along with him, as well as accompany his banjo with their guitars.

Pete Seeger is a folk music icon and arguably the most important American folk singer of the 20th century. He has won numerous awards and honors including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Medal of Arts (from the National Endowment for the Arts), the Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Honor, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
