Latin American, Latino/a
and Caribbean Studies at Miami University
For Students
Study Abroad
Opportunities to study abroad and to engage with Latin American communities in Ohio promote the active application of international knowledge to vital issues in today's changing world. The Culture and Environment in Brazil Summer Workshop [PDF], for example, introduces students to several socio-cultural groups and the diverse environments in which they live along Brazil's northeastern coast. Students should meet with an LAS advisor to gain approval before study abroad, and return with syllabi and course materials to secure transfer credit.

Student Organizations
The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) provides information about upcoming activities involving the Latino community and the Miami University student body; members have opportunities to participate in volunteer and service activities in the Oxford area.
The Latin American Graduate Student Association (LAGSA) seek to build a greater sense of community amongst all graduate students of Latin American heritage from every program and department at Miami University.
Newsletter
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to receive the LAS newsletter Corre la Voz, distributed by e-mail each Thursday. To subscribe, write to T. Klak (klakt@muohio.edu).
