Attend upcoming events
The Limper Geology Museum provides a lecture series and field trips open to the public. We invite you to attend our lectures, field trips, and various annual activities.
Upcoming lecture series
Every fall, the Limper Lecture Series provides free presentations about contemporary geological issues. These lectures are intended for the general public and provide a superb reason to visit Miami University's beautiful Oxford campus during the fall! The lectures take place on four Saturdays at 10:00 am in room 115 Shideler Hall and one Saturday at Miami University's Peffer Park. Free refreshments are provided. After the talk, why not take a stroll around our beautiful campus?

Field trips
One field trip is usually scheduled as part of the Limper Lecture Series. This is a great opportunity for interested persons to explore the local geology. Spend an hour or so walking up Collins Run creek, which runs through Peffer Park, with us and learn about the geologic history of the Oxford area.
Annual Activities
The museum celebrates Alumni weekend each year by opening on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am - 2:30pm.
The Miami University Science Fair is held annually on a Saturday in early April. Students in grades seven through nine from Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky present their science research projects while area professionals judge them. The museum is open from 9:00am - 2:30pm on the day of the event. Please stop by!
The Cincinnati Geofair is a gem, mineral, fossil, and jewelry show of greater Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Mineral Society sponsors the annual event held in early April. You can go to the Cincinnati Convention Center to see a display from the Limper Geology Museum. While you are there, purchase jewelry from one of the vendors, visit other educational booths, check out the displays by collectors, and listen to geology speakers. We would love to see you there.
The Central Ohio Mineral, Fossil, Gem, and Jewelry Show takes place in Columbus, Ohio in early April. This event also provides opportunities to purchase gems and jewelry, attend presentations, and visit educational booths. The Limper Geology Museum also provides one or two of the many displays of rocks, minerals, and fossils.
