Dr. Judith Kapp, MBI AB 1965 (MS, Indiana University, 1969; PhD, Harvard University, 1976), returned to campus this week for the first time since her graduation. Dr. Kapp is currently Professor of Pathology, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Retinal Transplantation Program at Emory University School of Medicine. She presented an outstanding lecture on The Role of γδ T cells in Immunological Tolerance. David Stroupe (MBI MS, 1965 and currently Senior Instructor on the Hamilton Campus) escorted Dr. Kapp from the airport, took her around their old haunts in Upham and showed off our fancy labs and offices in Pearson Hall. Dr. Kapp spent the afternoon talking with faculty, and after her lecture the Department hosted a reception in her honor. Dr. C. K. (Bud) Williamson - the professor who introduced Dr. Kapp to immunology in her undergraduate days here - and his wife, Bibi, joined Drs. Hooke and Stevenson for dinner with Dr. Kapp at DiPaolo's and much reminiscing about the old days. We were all delighted to welcome Dr. Kapp back to Miami after so many years, and to celebrate her outstanding success.
