To Prospective Students of Molecular BiologyWe are very pleased that you are interested in our Molecular Biology program, and feel confident that you would find Miami University to be an exciting and challenging place to begin or continue your graduate studies. Molecular Biology by its very nature is strongly interdisciplinary. It has as its ultimate aim the comprehension of biological phenomena at the molecular level. It is, therefore, appropriate that Molecular Biology Studies involve a high level of interaction and cooperation at not only the course level but also among faculty, students, laboratories, and departments at Miami University. Graduate studies in Molecular Biology at Miami University are supported by faculty in four different departments: Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Zoology. Students may choose from a variety of molecularly oriented courses in areas of specialization ranging from biochemistry and formal molecular biology to genetics, molecular evolution, cell biology, developmental biology and immunology. This site briefly describes application procedures, admission requirements, sources of financial support, research facilities, instrumentation, and courses of special interest to students studying Molecular Biology. We encourage you to apply to our program, even if you are uncertain about where you want to go to graduate school. It is common for prospective students to visit before making their final decision, and although this is not a requirement for admission, you are invited to do so.
