Financial Support

Graduate students are rarely admitted without some level of financial assistance, and a variety of graduate teaching assistantships and research assitantships are available. Graduate assistantships pay an average yearly stipend of $15,260 to $19,300 depending on the department. Additional stipend supplements can be awarded to students on a competitive basis. The instructional fee (tuition) and out-of-state fee are waived for all students holding graduate appointments.

Graduate Assistantships and Teaching Fellowships

These awards require half-time duties assisting faculty in instruction or research during two semesters of the regular academic year.

Summer Graduate Fellowships

These awards allow for full time research, require no teaching duties during the two summer terms, and are open to those students who have held graduate awards during the regular academic year and are in good academic standing.

Funds for Research and Travel

Departments have funds available for research and to defray costs for travel to scientific meetings.
