at Miami University
Center-Sponsored Capstone Course
The idea for this unique capstone course, "Current Issues in Medicine" (ZOO 400), evolved out of the strong desire of Dr. and Mrs. Mallory that Miami undergraduates have an opportunity to explore, in depth, the world of healthcare before becoming committed to the profession.
This course is very different from traditional courses at Miami. Rather than listening to lectures, students make presentations on various topics throughout the semester.
After student presentations, a guest speaker attends the class and shares his or her experiences as a currently practicing healthcare professional. After an involved discussion among the guest speaker and students, students have the opportunity to interact with the speaker in a small dinner setting.
Topics for the spring 2008 course are:
- Residency Issues; Training & Career Options
- Setting Up a Practice; Types of Practices; Business Aspects
