Dr. Thomas Mallory, now retired, is the founder of Joint Implant Surgeons. He performed the first total hip and knee replacements in Columbus, Ohio in 1971. His interest in biomedical engineering led to the design of the Mallory Head Total Hip System which is used internationally.
Dr. Mallory received his bachelor's degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He completed his medical doctorate and orthopaedic residency at the Ohio State University, and completed a Hip Surgery Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Afterwards, Dr. Mallory took a tour of Europe, visiting The Hip Centre at Wrightington, England, as well as hip centers in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
He was a Clinical Professor in Orthopaedics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Mallory has written for many publications, served on editorial boards, and presented at orthopaedic seminars nationally and internationally. His professional memberships include The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Hip Society, The Knee Society and The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons. Dr. Mallory recently published The Man behind the Mask: Journey of an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He continues his dedication to orthopaedic research and education.
