Student-Faculty Discourse Fund
Request Form

The Student-Faculty Discourse Fund (formerly known as the Popcorn Fund), is now being administered by the Dean's office. This fund is supported by the Miami University Fund and Parents Council with contributions from alumni and parents of currently enrolled undergraduate students on the Oxford campus; it provides opportunities for instructors and undergraduate students to meet informally in out-of-class settings.

Please complete and submit the following form prior to the event to be considered for funding. Your request will be considered by the Dean and Associate Deans and, within 2 weeks, you will be notified via email of their decision.

Guidelines

• For each event, a faculty member may be reimbursed at the rate of $4.00 per student or the total cost involved (before tax); whichever is less.
• Each instructor may receive funding for up to 25 students per event. Additionally, each instructor may be reimbursed a maximum of $200 per fiscal year.
• Alcoholic beverages cannot be reimbursed.
• Reimbursement is for faculty members' or TA's out-of-pocket expenses only; university accounts cannot be reimbursed through this fund.
• For joint events with multiple faculty members requesting reimbursement, each student can only be counted once and reimbursement for the event cannot exceed $100.
• If approved for funds, then after the event you will need to have your department prepare a requisition for your reimbursement. The requisition, with original receipts (not photocopies), should be sent to Paula Sizemore, CAS, for an account number and signature. It will then be forwarded to accounts payable for processing.
