Recognition Exercises - 2008
CONGRATULATIONS on your pending graduation. The College of Arts and Science is honored to recognize your academic and personal accomplishments. This letter is intended as a supplement to the announcement you received from the President's Office, which gave an overview of commencement weekend activities.
Recognition Exercises for graduates of the College will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. in Millett Hall. At this ceremony you will receive your diploma cover, be individually recognized as your name is read, and be congratulated personally by the Dean or an Associate Dean. A photographer will be stationed at each end of the stage so please be mindful of pausing for your picture. An American Sign Language Interpreter will be present.
Please report to the concourse in Millett Hall at 6:30 p.m. with your cap and gown in hand as academic attire is required. If your last name begins with A-K, proceed to the West Concourse where you will find appropriate tables with cards that lists your pertinent information. If your last name begins with L-Z, proceed to the East Concourse. Please take time to determine the accuracy of the data on your card. If you feel that the pronunciation of your name may need assistance, please write down a phonetic spelling for the readers. You should remain in the identified Concourse as you will process in from this area.
The ceremony will run approximately 90 minutes. No tickets are required and the event is open to the public. The procession will start promptly at 7:15 p.m. Faculty Marshals will lead the processional into the arena and direct candidates to their seating. At the appropriate time during the ceremony, Marshals will direct you to the stage. You will return to your seating for the remainder of the ceremony, the singing of the Alma Mater, and the recessional.
Handicapped parking will be available on campus with your state-issued disability placard only. Accommodations for those who are deaf/hard of hearing will be provided in the form of American Sign Language interpreters. If you have questions regarding disability services, contact the Office of Disability Resources at 513/529-1541 (V/TTY).
I hope you have found your experience at Miami University to be rewarding and that you will maintain a close relationship with the Alumni Association. I look forward to seeing you on May 10th.
Sincerely,

Karen Maitland Schilling
Dean
