(This video shows Peabody Hall, the Western campus, classroom interaction, and extracurricular activities.)

The new Western Living-Learning Community is housed at Peabody Hall on the beautiful Western campus, the former home of both the Western College for Women and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. The natural beauty of its setting and the exceptional character of its architecture make Western one of the loveliest parts of Miami's campus.

Western offers a unique residential-college experience at Miami. Named for the founder of Western College, Peabody Hall houses faculty offices, small classrooms, a theatre, a writing center, a computer center, and comfortable common areas in addition to its two residence floors. Its faculty includes professors from the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Fine Arts, and the School of Education, Health, and Society, making for a lively blend of perspectives from different disciplines within the university. This mix offers you an opportunity for integrating your varied interests as you build intellectual community with fellow students and faculty in ways unmatched by other residence-hall options.

Western has a long and vibrant tradition of close interaction among faculty and students who seek to enrich their teaching and learning by extending them beyond the classroom. Living in Peabody Hall provides a wonderful chance to interact informally with your teachers and faculty advisors as you plan your college and professional career; to participate in a rich array of curricular and co-curricular offerings, including small classes taught in the building and special events designed to engage you in the life of the community; and to put into practice what you are learning both inside and outside the classroom. To extend and enhance your Western education, a variety of activities will actively engage you in arts events, hands-on field experiences, and service-learning opportunities.

The new Western offers you the chance to make your Miami experience reflect your needs and interests; to nurture your skills and develop new ones; and to join a faculty-student living-learning community that values creativity, passion, and engaged learning. Come to Peabody to experience the warm, friendly feel of a liberal-arts college with all the resources of Miami University at hand.
