Extra Credit Opportunities

To earn up to 5 points extra credit, you may attend the Distinguished Microbiologist Lecture on Friday, February 13, which will be given by Dr. Gijs Kuenen of the Biotechnology Department at Delft University of Technology. His topic is "Microbiology, environmental role and application of anammox bacteria"

To obtain credit for attending this lecture, you must sign the attendance sheet after the lecture (in room 9 PSN) and turn in a one-page (single-spaced, 12-pt type, 1" margins) report on the talk, being certain to explain the significance of the work discussed in addition to describing the content of the lecture. This report is due at the beginning of class on Friday, February 20.


To earn up to 5 points addditional extra credit, you may attend the Orton K. Stark Lecture on Wednesday, April 1, which will be given by Dr. Thomas Wynn, National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID). His topic is "Regulation of Th2 cytokine responses in allergy/asthma and chronic helminth infection"

To obtain credit for attending this lecture, you must sign the attendance sheet after the lecture (in room 9 PSN) and turn in a one-page (single-spaced, 12-pt type, 1" margins) report on the talk, being certain to explain the significance of the work discussed in addition to describing the content of the lecture. This report is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, April 8.
